Does anyone know what browning of the feathers means for a white leghorn?

Does anyone know what browning of the feathers on a while leghorn means? Both of my leghorns are now showing brown feathers. One started a month or so before the other. They are both four years old. Then hen that started showing the browning sooner also has water belly so we drain her often. Anyone know what this means?

Pictures of the birds might help. Did the brown feathers come in last molt? Some birds are not from 'pure' lines so it could be color leakage from mixed genes somewhere in the genetics. I'm not real good at understanding all the genetics of coloring, but this thread explains some of it seemingly pretty well:
