    Hi,
I got these from a neighbor and he did not know what kind they are.
He got them from the farm store. Can anyone tell if they are hens. It is hard to get a good picture of them. They are a rich multi colored chocolatey brown that is kind of iridescent.
    Thanks![IMG]

I don't know what breed they are but they look very nice. They very well could be mutts and there is nothing wrong with that. I have 2 mutts that lay all year without a problem. They kinda have a partridge look to them. Feed'em in the front and eggs fly out the rear.

They are Barnevelder hens. You will get some very dark brown eggs from them.

Thanks everyone! This is exciting! I had never heard of this breed before. I can't wait to see the first egg!

Does anyone know if the rooster looks different from the hen in any way? One of them seems to be bigger and the feet/legs seem to be bigger and thicker. I think they are about 6 months.
