Does anyone know where I can get a Kraienkoppe chicken. It's a Dutch/German chicken. I am having a hard time finding one. Any help is greatly appreciated!

If hatchery quality will do then Ideal Poultry has both the red breasted and silver. Red breasted is a full pound heavier than silver.

Look in the standard tinted layers.

    Man they are pricy!!

"Greenfire Farms sells only unsexed day-old chicks of this breed. Each chick is $59. Because these are bred in very limited numbers, availability may vary. Shipping charges are a flat rate of $35 per chick box"

Ideal doesn't have price listed, wonder if they are cheaper there?

Guess it depends on your goals and your resources.
I certainly wouldn't / couldn't justify spending that kind of money on a chicken,
can buy 3 weeks worth of groceries for $60.

Depending on how long Greenfire has had their stock there could be people here that already purchased and raised them. You might have to wait until spring but could put up an add in Buy/sell/trade stating your looking for Greenfire stock eggs or chicks. That would reduce costs.

Barnevelders and now Kraienkoppe, you must have a strong connection to Holland ancestry.

Yes I'm 50% Dutch and my dad is 100% Dutch. I still have family in holland. My dad came to America when he was 19!
