If you already see them I would use a chemical before it gets any worse

I'm a pretty crunchy natural individual.. is there any natural treatment at all like for humans but chickens instead?

permethrin products are considered to be "friendlier".

thanks. do they have that at the feed store or a different type of store?

she has only been with my chicks. I assume I have to treat the chicks too. what about the hens? they're not with her, am I OK with just putting DE in their coop/run?

It is sold everywhere as "garden dust".

I"d likely dust them carefully. You want to dust their rears, under the wings, back of the neck, etc. Repeat in 8-10 days.

Thanks! I just checked the chicks and I don't see anything on them. do you think I could just do the DE with them? they aren't really in close contact with the silkie as they don't sleep/roost together. I have them in separate sleeping places. I really don't know anything about the life cycle of lice and how they transfer etc. perhaps it would be pushing it not to treat everyone?
