Does having a rooster make your hens lay less?

A friend of mine told me that hens who are fertilized by a rooster end up laying fewer eggs. I've never heard or read about this but he grew up on a farm so I couldn't completely ignore it. I can't see it making that big a difference but just curious.

    Thanks,

Should not, unless the rooster stresses the hens…like not enough hens for the number of roosters you have.
