I hatched out some Coturnix quail this past Saturday and today I noticed that 1 of them keeps its head curled up against its body and is slightly to the right. Ive heard of something on here called Wry Neck but never really learned about it. Can I fix this little guy?

I would say yes. I've heard that giving them baby liquid vitamins can help.

Yeah, from the drug store or grocery store baby section. They come in a bottle with a dropper. I haven't tried it, but I have heard this enough that I think it is worth a try. The chicken folks also claim it works. Search the forum to get dosing suggestions. You put it in the water.

I'm curious, so if you try it, let us know how it goes.

Well Ive been giving the quail the vitamins everyday and there still isnt any improvement [IMG]. He can still eat and drink but his neck is still bad. Anybody got a solution? Oh and the drugstore sold 3 different varieties of liquid baby vitamins. One with iron, one that was just one vitamin, and one which had 3, which is what I bought. Did I get the correct one and can anyone recomend a good dosage.

The vitamin that people use for the poultry chicks is ENFAMIL'S Poly-Vi-Sol without iron from Walmart or whereever. I use .5ml to the quart waterer. Good for all the chicks. But I found that getting them some fresh air and sunlight does even better. I tend to think this is partly a Vit D deficiency in these birds. I also use 1 teaspoon of Apple Cidar Vinegar in their water, each time I refresh it. I used the .5ml of vitamin Morning and Night in the waterer, ACV at other water changes.

I am talking about poultry chicks. I am only now hatching my first C. quail eggs.

I had one chick that I culled as I saw no improvement and another that within a week was fine after vitamins and sunshine. It is now much later and she is a young pullet and is one of my favorite NN layers. However, I Culled the Roo that sired that batch of chicks and will not use this pullet for breeding in case this is genetic and will carry the problem on to offspring. Since then, there has not been another case of wry neck in my flock.

    Good luck.
