I'm sorry to hear that! She's a gorgeous bird!
Could it possibly be that she's egg bound? I'm new to keeping chickens (this is only my second year), but if she seems constipated she could possibly have an egg stuck.
Here's a page on it:
Hope this helps. Sorry if she isn't egg bound, but that would be my first guess.
i guess i dont see well but is she egg bound?
She's trying to get something out. Do a cloacal exam.
I did cloacal exam and she was extremely impacted with feces. I'm afraid she is going to prolapse again. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
Tube feed water, that should help.
She is eating and drinking. Just shaking her head a lot and was screaming when she was straining. I think I cleared a good amount of stool out now she is perched and sleeping.
molasses. and whats causing her to be bound up?
She prolapsed her vent and the vet put a stitch in but it must have been too tight and caused her to become impacted. I have had chickens for 7 of my adult years and grew up with chickens but have never experienced anything like this.
aww poor thing, you didnt tell that part. def. give her some molasses. maybe a few drops of oil too
