Recently announced - recalls on dog foods
http://www.petcare.mars.com/

They are recalling certain brands in which the first two numbers of the UPC are 17. I have put in a call to our FDA office in Michigan, because I have food not of the listed brand, but with the indicated UPC - - - AND my dog has had mystery tummy aches a couple of times in the past month. I have spoken with my vet & she has shrugged it off. "He's a puppy; he eats weird things, like bark; he's gonna get a tummy ache..."
What I am curious about is whether these UPC codes indicate the manufacturing plant of origin?

The other suspect in the pup's tummy troubles are Pig Ears. Has anyone else had issues with these?

Thanks for posting the recall notice.

If you are worried it was the food I would suggest switching to a different brand of food. On that hasn't been so involved in the recalls lately.

I feed my dogs Solid Gold it cost a little bit more, but since it's good quality food and not a bunch of fillers I feed them less of it. So it ends up costing about the same as the cheaper food, but is so much better for them.

Solid Gold is made in the U.S. and has not been involved in any of the recalls.

I feed my 2 big dogs Pedigree, and called the800 number they had posted about the recall, and the nice rep Italked to told me where to look for the numbers needed if it was part of the recall, thank god it wasn't, but DD had bought some old roy and hers was part of the recall, so guess she will take it back today. marrie

I heard something brief on our local news-but no real needed info--however--the BYC thread on this helped me!!
I looked and found out that we have some of the Members Mark Dog food with the same UPC code that is being recalled....so its off the Sams Club I go for the refund=-=
Thanks ya'll!!!

Its good to have these things posted HERE or I would probably miss it! Two of my dogs were acting a little "off" this week but I am pretty sure its not the dog food. They are doing better now.

these dog foods are made in the USA. At least some of it, my boyfriend works at a DelMonte plant where they are made. You would be surprised how clean these places are. I feed my dog California Naturals and as said before, because its a higher quality she eats less. One 5 pound bag lasts my beagle a whole month. There are no fillers, etc. just meat, rice and vitamins.
