my poor son. the turkey we were given the other day for goat sitting got killed by his dog this morning. he is so upset. now he just has one. it had gotten out of the pen. i should have put it in the cage. why didn't i put it in the cage? i wasn't thinking of course. i guess i figured it'd be fine since the other one hasn't gotten out. my son has four turkey eggs going to the hatcher today so fingers crossed for him that these hatch so he has some more. he really wants to raise a small flock of turkeys and he's lost two of them now. the other one we just found dead. he is just 9 but he has really taken an interest in the poultry. he has six ducks and is hoping to pick up a couple more this weekend. his duck luck has been great, he hasn't lost one. i'm really proud of him for wanting to do all this on his own and he has learned so much. those eggs just have to hatch. maybe one will. send some hatch vibes.

What a great hobby for your son!~~ [IMG]

I am sorry he lost his two turkies though. [IMG] That is so hard especially for such a young person. I hope his hatch goes really well for him to try to make up for such a loss. [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

We've had losses such as this, I think young people learn a lot by dealing with these situations. It sounds like your son is moving forward towards resolution. Yes, I've forgotten to lock up poultry and it's been my 'fault', it's good for young people to learn that Mom and Dad flub up sometimes and life goes on.

    Good luck!
