How can I most safely introduce my chicks to my adult dog

My husband puts a chick on his chest in the recliner and has our boxer sit next to him. When he starts licking the chick he just tells him over and over to be gentle.. He has been doing this every night for the past week. He is doing really well.. Boxers are very hyper.. But so far so good.. What breed do you have?

It really depends on the dog... ???????????? What breed, how old, has it any experience with small animals, how strong is it's "prey drive", etc., etc.!!

No ONE answer to this question, except for maybe to go slow & monitor the dog's behavior and keep the chicks PROTECTED the whole time!!

Oh & how old are chicks? little babies or semi-grown??

Sorry not terribly specific, but don't know enough about your animals to make any solid suggestions!!
