Dogs got seven of our chickens yesterday- two Delaware roosters, three Rhode Island Red hens, and two Delaware hens. We called animal control and they found the dogs who did it, and they must be penned up. The owner did pay us for our losses, but we still are heartbroken. We live in the country and we let them out of the coop/run to free-range in our yard, now I'm scared to let the rest out at all, but they are so miserable they won't even come out in the run. They lost their leader so I wonder if that has something to do with why they don't want to even come out in the run. We said we will let them out again once someone cuts the hay in the field since the dogs had been hiding and using that for cover.

So sorry for your loss - it is very devastating. The others are most likely traumatized by the whole thing and scared to come out. They will get over it with time, but they are still in shock.
