I have chicks of both kinds and the same age, how do i tell them apart?

How old are they? The best way to tell when young is the comb. The Dominiques have a rose comb, it will be broad and flat. Sometimes they are mostly smooth, or there may be tiny bumps. The Barred Rock will have a single comb - with a single defined ridge in the center.
