My wife and have a bit of a hobby farm starting. We currently raise rabbits as food and we are just getting started producing fertile eggs. I have 2 hens brooding now, a Standard size OEG and a Silkie. Right now I am using these breeds to hatch eggs and we have our first clutches due soon. I would love to have birds that are better free rangers than the RIRs. I am looking for breeders of non-production or old bloodline, not sure how to say it, of both Buckeyes and Dominiques. I live in Southern Oregon so anywhere near there or possibly shipping? I am after birds that are a) great free rangers b) brooders, gotta be broody and c) egg production those are my priorities in order. From what I have been researching these 2 breeds sound hard to beat based on that criteria. I'm not looking to start a debate of what is better blah............... Just looking for contacts. So any assistance is greatly appreciated. I am planning to replace my production red RIR with these breeds. Thank you.
