Today at the market I found a rooster with a rose comb that HIGHLY resembles a true Dominique. But, what confuses me is that the colors aren't all the same tone. Some light and some dark. Is he possibly a mix or is he a true Dominique? Here are a few pics:

    Nice rooster

I know that with dominique and barred rock the roosters have lighter bars than the hens. Since the roosters have to barring genes. He probably ain't a pure dominique or he just has a weird barring pattern.

He reminds me of the black star cockerels we got a few years back. We used a rose comb RIR roo on barred rock hens and got rose comb chicks.

Dominiques have yellow legs so your bird is something else-probably a cross of some sort.
