door width for heavy breeds

How wide should my coop door be for a heavy breed like a black australorp? My door is 12" should I stick with medium weight bird?

I've got a ten-inch-wide door, and my larger-than-not BOs can get through just fine. BOs may be slimmer than australorps, though, I don't really know.

My Rhode Islands, Black Sex Links, and barred Rock Rooster can squeeze through a 4" x 4" opening. So I think anything over 8-10" will be fine... just my 2 cents
