Dorkings people! Advise on these birds please

They were reported on by the Romans when they occupied Britain, if that matters. Interestingly, it is believed that Europeans - and more importantly the early Romans themselves - brought the five toed parent stock to Britain in the first place. Lets just say they've been around a long time.
It also happens that they have five toes, unusual for birds of any kind. I imagine that is what the Romans found so noteworthy.

I wouldn't hesitate to have them, especially if I live anywhere near a cool climate. They are not renowned as egg layers, rather being more utilitarian.... what we might call "dual purpose."

But I wouldn't bid on anything unless I was assured of the extra toe. If you wanna save the breed, make sure you are getting them in the first place.
