Hi, all!

I just need to know how much antifungal cream to administer for a 3.5 lb. chicken with vent gleet. It'd also help to know how long to treat.

Tried searching, but there is too much info to sort through! 🤣

Antifungal creams such as miconazole (Monistat) are used off label to treat fungal infections and sour crop, and there is not standard dose. I think some use 1/2 inch orally twice a day, but still, that is just someone’s opinion. There is a good medicine called Nystatin ( or Medistatin Powder found online for pigeons) that is a standard medicine for treating fungal infections in birds, and Nystatin is also used in humans. Dosage for birds is 1 gram (about 1/4 tsp) in 20 ml (4 tsp) of water and give 1 ml twice a day. You could probably give twice that amount to a chicken. Here is a link for it:

Perfect! I'll get some asap. I caught it early, so I'm feeling hopeful. However, I may come back after work to post pics to make sure I'm on the right track.

THANK YOU!
