Is there a breed of chickens that are more likley to give double yolk eggs or is it just luck.

it isnt lucky. Double yolks are a sign of a problem, if laid frequently. It is extremely hard on the hen to lay the abnormally large eggs! Double yolks on occasion are ok but lots are bad so don't TRY to find a chicken who lays them

We got our first egg on 10/20/11 and between then and now, we've gotten two double yolkers. Pretty sure they've both come from Leghorns.

I thought the same thing; cool to see happen but probably not good for the hen that has to lay it.
