I have a group of 7 ducks, 2 drakes and 5 females. Recently the drakes have decided to push out one of the females. They will mate her then chase her off. The drakes don't seem to fight each other at all. Why would they be mean to her? They are free range on 6 acres. I feel so bad for her.

    Drakes can be like that.

Your job is to protect her.

She and her fellow females may need some time off from the boys. Separate the drakes for a few days, and see what happens. Splitting the flock temporarily can reset the dynamics.

Her life is in your hands.
