Well, I have some new pics of the chooks... I don't know a lot yet about what makes the best blue, so any comments on my Blue Ameraucanas is welcome. I have a few questions about some of the birds and I will try to put them with the pics.

Roxy & Captain..... caught him trying to mate her.... how pretty might those babies be!

My Self-Blue (Lavender) d'Uccle roo...... he does have some barring... not very defined, but there. What does this mean for breeding? Undesirable? Could it result in something interesting when bred with Mille Fleur? Comments????

My Wheaton Ameraucana cockeral...... comments??? Typey????

Blue Wheaton Ameraucana pullet ... same questions..... I don't know much about Wheaton coloration. She's so small compared to my Wheaton cockerel.

Now for my Black, Blue and Splash Ameraucanas... Typey? Form? Color? I will say what I think they are sex wise... which would you keep for breeding? I am leaning toward the Splash roo? over the blue and black.

I'm pretty sure this is a pullet, and I'm happy with her lacing... comments?

I think this one is a cockerel???? It's so small though compared to the other cockerels and is closer in size to the other pullets..... except the blacks.. they are HUGE! How will his blue coloring (quality of) effect a breeding program??

The blacks... there are a couple that are smaller and then these two giants! I swear they are double the size of their hatch mates! I THINK they are pullets... very small pale combs... late bloomers??? I don't appear to have any black cockerels... seems too good to be true! LOL Anyhow.. comments? Typey??

And last but not least... my Splash cockerel? He's HUGE! How does his coloring look??? Would you keep him for the main breeding roo for your BBS flock???

Your birds are beautiful...How old is your blue Ameraucanas? I still can't tell if mine are male or female.

ETA: I have a blue and a splash, but my splash isn't as pretty as yours is right now and it's colors are light blue background w/darker blue splashes. And it's feathers always look so messy compared to the blue.

Okay, mine are from a June hatch only two to hatch out of 8, but I just can't tell the difference still...When I hold the blue I dig in its feathers to see if the new ones are pointed. They don't look it but they are thin still too. And the splash is too jumpy to hold for very long and doesn't have the patience for me to dig in its feathers. I think the blue one thinks it's getting a massage...
