d'uccle color question

I'm wondering if blue mottled d'uccles follow the blue rules and produce blue, black, and splash? Or would blue x black just give shades of gray? I keep trying for black mottled with shipped eggs but mostly get blues. Do breeders typically keep blue and black together? Thanks!
