I just purchased this pair because I fell in love with their beauty and tiny size. After looking through the breed section I have come to the conclusion they are d'uccles. Is there any way of telling how old they may be? The hen lays an egg aproximately every 30hrs. The lady I bought them from said they were less than a year old but she didn't speak any English so I got this information through a translator[IMG]

Yes, you have yourself a pretty pair of Mille Fleur Belgian Bearded D'Uccles. I can't tell you the exact age, but I would say that they are probably no older than a year, as the coloring is pretty distinct. As they age and molt, Mille Fleur birds tend to get more white on them; the white "fleurs" on yours are small and well distributed, so they're still young. Probably 7-10 months of age, if I had to guess. The hen's good laying ability is another sign of youth.

I'm guessing that they are about eight months old, no older than a year. Because the hen is laying reguarly, she's probably older than six months or so.

How old do they have to be for gender to be determined?
Here are a couple a little over a week old. I'm guessing its probably to early?
