I'm usually pretty good about guessing sexes but these guys have me a bit stumped. I'm thinking they are roos, but their tails really have me stumped. Usually my little roos get pointed feathers on their tails. These guys have very rounded, hen-like tail feathers (The one pictured has the most curved feathers of the four). They have pointy neck feathers though and their combs are more red than I would expect for a hen. I have four of them that I got from the auction. They are real little yet, but have all their feathers. I think I will be keeping this one, even though I think it is a roo, but figured I'd get your opinions first. I was hoping for some hens, but all the little guys look pretty much like this one. I apologize for the crummy cell pics.

looks like a cockerel thats already getting to much white just like mine. if you new the age it would help, my hatchery one didnt start showing cockerel signs till it was a 10 weeks old

Here are some pictures of a pair of mine that I took yesterday because I am planning on selling them. They are just over 7 weeks old. I have too many roosters and am hoping by selling them as a pair, he will get a good home. I have been able to tell he was a rooster for 2 or 3 weeks now. Hope this helps.

Do the males usually have more white at this age? I've never raised d'uccles from this young before. Every time I've had them, they were much older. I ended up with two pairs of blue d'Anvers too from the same lot. I was going to sell them as pairs, but the hens are just too pretty, so I think I'm going to try and just sell off the roos at the fair this week.

i thought this was a pullet but she changed on me to be a cockerel

Thanks for the pics guys! I'm pretty sure all four I have are boys, but when I sell them I don't think I will garauntee gender. I'm only selling them for $5 a piece, so hopefully there will still be interest in them. They are definitely cute!

I seem to keep ending up with roosters, but I'm having a hard time parting with some of them. I bought four cochin bantams a few weeks ago and there was a roo with them. I was going to sell him, but he's getting along so well in my coop, I think he will end up staying. In my other coop, I only have one little modern game bantam roo. I wanted to put a standard roo in that coop so I got a LF Salmon Faverolle from a BYCer, but he is fitting in better in the other coop than in the one he was supposed to go into. So right now my coops are lopsided. I have three boys int he one coop and just one in the other. Oh well, I'd rather keep them where they are happiest! If I keep one of the mille fluers, it will go in the coop with my modern.
