Are all D'Uccles suppose to have beards and muffs?

I have some Self Blues that I bought and hatched out and they do not. So now I am curious if they are not considered Show Quality?

I am still learning about these little guys so if you have any helpful links to post I would apperciate that as well.

    Thanks

There's another breed called Booted Bantams-similar to the d'Uccles in every respect except the Booteds don't have beards & muffs.

HUH So I got 7 d'uccles from a hatchery and some do have muffs and some don't. Is that common from a hatchery then? Will they still look like d'uccle's then? Good question Blue [IMG]

Well I bought them because they were sold as Self Blue D'Uccles.

So if I understand this right, then they are not breed standards for D'Uccles since that is what they were sold as?

If they are Booted Bantams then they should have not been sold as D'Uccles?

I am now so confused [IMG]

Where did you buy them from? Maybe you can ask for a refund?

Oh I am not that worried about it Hangin Wit My Peeps.

I just know that if my thinking is right on this whole Booted Batam... D'Uccle thing then I will not buy from them again LOL

They have a home for them. I have some one who wants them because they just want small chickens were they live.

Well, if they came from a hatchery, don't expect SQ birds. They breed for quantity, not quality. If you want to find SQ birds, I'd suggest contacting a breeder that is breeding to the standard of perfection. Otherwise, there's no guarantee that you'll get anything near the breed standard.
