Duck back nail broke off and has dried up blood help!!

Hello! I have a five month old pekin duck and recently I noticed that his back nail is no longer there and it has dried up blood. I don't know how or when this happened he spends most of his time inside my house and I can't think of a specific situation that could have caused this. Please help! Is this serious?? What should I do? He doesn't seem to be in any pain, he is walking just fine and is acting as he usually would. Help!!

I’d get some vetericyn plus or a spray similar, clean it, and put Neosporin on it without pain reliever. Other than that I don’t know what else to do

It'll probably be fine and heal on its own.

As long as it is not bleeding, it should heal on its own. If you ever find it bleeding, cornstarch or flour can be used to help stop the bleeding. Styptic powder works better, but the other two will work in a pinch.

It will be fine, it may or may not grow back depending in how far up it is broken off.

Thank you!! I think he's doing okay now it's not bleeding anymore and I don't think he's in pain. I'm keeping a close eye on him... My worst fear is if he got an infection!!
