Please help. Our neighbors just came by on their 4 wheelers and our pregnant mare flipped out and stepped on one of our ducks. Cleanly broke her leg above where the skin ends. It is a compound fracture. Should I remove the broken part and treat the nub, or try to reset the leg and immobilize the area?
Any help greatly appreciated. This just happened minutes ago, and she is currently being held so she doesn't infect or cause more damage by flailing around.
