Duck can’t walk.

Hi. I have a female runner chick that was attacked by one of my geese. Her head is very bruised up. I had her resting in a crate with loads of water and food. I was doing warm compressed on her head and damaged eye. Things looked good after a day. But she didn’t eat anything. I put her back with her runner duck friends. In a separated area. Hoping she will bounce back. However. She seems to get scared and when she tries to get away. He legs go stiff and she flopps forward and can’t get up. Her legs are then just sprayed behind her. I’m not sure if this is from not eating for a few days or she may have more head trauma than I though. Has anyone had a duck do this when scared and unable to get away?

I might think something got broken like her pelvis, but it could be a balance issue. I would keep it confined longer. It can be by the other ducks but it may need rest.

Poor girl. I have kept her away from the coop. But I had to give her some runner friends. She stopped eating and was to scared. But now she is eating and gaining strength. It’s slow. But she is on the mend.

That's good to hear, since she's improving it may just be a sprain or strain.
