Duck crop problems, what to look for?

Can somebody please explain in detail duck crop problems and what I should look for? I keep seeing that it should not feel like a balloon? Is that a full balloon or squishy? And what would that mean if it does feel like that? I'm looking for answers in regards to a post I posted earlier today. I want to make sure I'm not missing something. Forgive me I am new to all of this.

If your duck's crop is swollen with food or liquid it should empty at night. If it's not empty in the morning there is a problem, though figuring what the problem is can be tricky without a vet.
