I'm on day 28-29 of a batch of mixed babies (indian runners, swedish black, and white pekins.) 3 have pipped (12 hours ago) and 7 have not. One of the ones that hasn't pipped when I very carefully candled it to make sure it was still alright in there, the inside had a yellow-green tint, like the color of cartoon mucus. The baby was still moving around, but every other egg had a clean orange glow look to it. Is this okay? What should I do?

That sounds very odd, but I'd leave it if the baby is still alive. I've had eggs hatch from wild nests with spots of what I can only describe as rot in them, but the babies were fine.
Could you possibly get a picture? I'd like to see.
Do you know which kind of egg it is?

I tried my best but this isn't a great shot. You can see the shadow of the beak in the airsac up there, but it's just such a strange color and none of the others look like that. As to the breed I don't know. All of my girls were nest sharing when I collected the eggs. It could be any combination of the three. The only thing it can't be is a pure swedish because I only have a hen and no drake.

It sounds like it's progressing normally, at least. I would wait until it hatches -should be soon if you've got a beak in the air cell- and check the chick and egg to see if there's anything abnormal that would be causing the color. I don't think I've seen a greenish duck egg before, but if the chick still hatches I wouldn't think it's anything to worry about.

I'll keep an eye on it. Thanks for the input.

Curious as to if this egg hatched and if you investigated what made it green and also what the duckling looked like. Any information for an update?
