I had a silkie sitting on some eggs that turned out to be rotten and she ended up cracking 2 of them. I didn't want her cracking open the Pekin duck egg she was sitting on as it was viable so I put it in the incubator. Currently it is set to 100 degrees and 57% humidity. The day I put it in the incubator I saw the egg rocking but now it's hatch day and nothing. Would it still be able to hatch or did I mess it up? It's our first fertile duck egg.

Ducklings can take a while to hatch. Sometimes it takes them a few days after their hatch date to pip. It can also take a few hours for them to fully hatch.Don't be worried. It's pretty common for ducklings to take a while since they have a more rounded bill than a beak.

The bigger the ducklings get the less they move on the egg. Moving from the hen to the incubator can also delay a day or two especially if the incubator wasn't properly warmed up first. Once you see a pip it can still take another 48 hours for it to hatch.

You can candle the egg to see if baby has internal pip
Often the rocking happens when babies are getting into position to hatch
Then they may not be moving much after that
Yoy won’t cause any harm candling as it doesn’t have external pip
If it’s forced air temp should be 99.5
Humidity 60-70 % I like to shoot for 65 for hatching
