Can anyone tell me how or what I can use to make my own duck food? I have one pekin that is about 5months old and will not eat her duck food anymore. She will only eat bugs, (mealworms, wax worms, earth worms, crickets and grasshoppers) fresh corn and a few peas. I have tried at least 6 or 7 different duck and chicken feeds and she won’t eat them. And I tried just not giving her the other stuff thinking she would eat when hungry but she won’t she dropped like 1 or 2lbs.

It would be really hard to make your own duck feed that is nutritionally complete. Maybe not impossible... I'd suggest just using a standard pellet feed like mazuri or Purina and just sprinkle a few mealworms on top of it every day to get her interested. After long enough she should accept that it is food and eat it without the mealworms.

Pekin ducks are prone to obesity due to being a meat breed. Wax worms and mealworms are very high in fat and should only be used as an occasional treat. She needs a proper duck feed to be healthy, as well as a niacin supplement like brewers yeast.
