duck hen or drake…?

okay is this a drake or a hen?
8 - 9 weeks
ancona
he/she has grown quiet quickly over the last two weeks
very friendly (as you can see from the selfie haha)
i have just noticed a green sheen to his/hers back black feathers….

Too young to tell by the plumage, the voice will be the key right now. Females are the ones who are more noisy and "quack". Males are much quieter and have raspy voices. If it's a male it probably doesn't have a full male voice just yet, but it'll still do alot of baby peeps. Females by this age should at least be working some little quacks in here and there. You can find videos on YouTube that show the difference between male and female voices of ducks.

Yes, if the feathers are black they can have a green or purple sheen to them no matter the sex. If it quacks it's a girl if it is still peeping or sounds like a frog it's a boy.
