A Pekin duck was hit by a car her left foot injured other injuries not sure, she is standing by tree by the lake.
when visiting I know she is in shock...

Should I ?
PS, She has two male friends that always protect her, and trying to keep others away.

so many to keep away...

I'm afraid if I don't get her keep for a few days until better, all may take advantage of her
Advice ?

Kim

Yes if she is in shock she can die from that and having injuries won't help. If you can get her check her out real good. maybe put her in the tub with tepid water and see how she acts but don't dare leave her. You maybe able to evaluate her injuries better observing in water where she can float. Then give her a nice place where it's quiet so she can rest and hopefully get over the shock, fresh water with electrolytes added will help, she may not eat right away but have it close by just in case. Thank goodness you are there to help. Please keep us updated on her. when I say nice quiet place to recoup I mean away from everyone including the boys till she is up and walking again.

I want to name you Miss Lydia the Great thank you for all your help.

Ok I will try to ask hubby to help me get her ........ This duck our friend over two years

.. The city just put this sign in my yard 2 weeks ago by the lake How sweet I am thankful Awesome

But Still No one pays attention 4 little kids play a few feet away......
and pekin duck hit injured today / Gosh I need to move to the country....

I hope she gets better! I wouldn't want my ducks to get injured, and I have had chickens get injured. Hopefully with some luck and a bit of work, she will be better soon!

Please let us know how it goes. Prayers for all of you. Miss Lydia gave good advice. If you have apple cider vinegar - unpasteurized is best - a tablespoon of that in a gallon of water will give some electrolytes if you don't have poultry vitamins.

How ? Today Duck is just fine and walking, not nearly as bad as I thought

I was going to try to catch her yesterday but wouldn't move out of middle of lake. I assume resting foot.

Thanks everyone. All is good

It has been a few months, since last post Pekin duckie is fine with her two protectors ....... I don't want to encourage her to walk across the street since she was hit.
A big rain and flood over street last week
Duckie her two and the injured Goose All were in back yard feeding from flood. I had to say hello she (duckie) came right to me.
Other than that day she does not come across the street anymore a good thing, traffic just too much.

I should have took picture seeing goose with the others, not close but feeding in same area.
