so if ducks start to lay eggs at about 4 months my long island duck should begin to lay around August to September. I read that if the days are not so long they will begin laying when the sun stays longer. Aug and Sept are pretty warm out here so it's possible she'll begin to lay then. when do I begin offering oyster shells? around the time she is supposed to lay? after I've noticed she laid an egg? or anytime since she's now a couple months old?

You can start offer oyster shell at any time. They probably won't eat it unless they need it. If they start eating too much you could cut down the amount you give to them.

I don't own ducks, but with chickens they will late in the year if they are young and just beginning to lay.

Best of luck!

thank.you I was going to buy a bag yesterday as it.was only 75 cents! but I wasn't sure I needed it yet or.if it.would go bad if not.used for.a while. next week.when I pick up their food.I'll get some if.they still have it
