I hope it is alright I put a duck on this forum.

I set my broody hen on chicken and duck eggs on June 8. It is now the 23rd day.

It has definitely been 21 days but no chickens have pipped; however, my lone duck egg has pipped yesterday around 10 pm. He looks like the pip has expanded to a tiny section of a zip. (but I could just be very hopeful) When I feel the egg, he is moving around like crazy.

I have read a bunch of places that ducks take forever to hatch. Is that true? Also, they need help usually, I think its strange that he pipped so early. Perhaps he really is a chicken and the eggs I bought were mislabeled.

On the 19th day the broody hen's (Paula Dean) water spilt in pen. (i found it early) On another post, someone told me that the eggs might hatch a little late.

    ???????

Oh yeah, I put a humidifier (to make it more humid) in the room she is in? Is that too overachieving?
