Duck Setting First Time

I have two female ducks. My oldest girl Peepers is eight and up until last year she was the only one setting. Daisy my younger female just started setting this spring and she's six years old. Is this normal?? I've never known them to start setting this late.

He is a small pet call duck.


Setting as in broody? Hormones - you just can never tell when the will start running. Mine usually start their second year and I have had them brood thru their 6th year (sadly she was killed this year).

I must be inexperienced.....I've never seen a six year old duck who has never wanted to be a mother suddenly change her mind.
