I have 7 ducks (5 runners, 1 female Peking, and a drake khaki). 4 of the 5 runners seem to have a curly tail feather on their butt. I looked it up and read some posts here but is this a 100% method to sexing these 4 as drakes? I ask because in less than 24hrs I have found 5 eggs, but it looks like I have only 2 females in my flock. If I do in fact have 5 males, I need to re-home most of them as I purchased them for egg production.

Yes that usually means drakes! My 12 week old Runner just started sporting his a couple weeks ago.

We have a buy sell forum here a rehoming forum and also states thread at "where am I where are you" also by the time they are showing their drake feather you should be able to voice sex females quack loud drakes have a raspy voice.

It would seem that if you got 5 eggs in one day you've got at least 5 girls! Can you post pictures of the "curly tailed" ducks?

Good luck with that. lol. I can say my Muscovy like laying inside and most of the time my Runners an Buffs do but at least 1-2 times a week I find an egg on the ground. Matter of fact yesterday I happen to see my Buff standing at the water bucket and an egg just popped right out an she’s almost 3.5 yrs old. But you can try using fake eggs or when one starts to lay put their egg in a private place in the coop. With soft bedding. You may make the light bulb come on.
