duckling got leg stuck in weeds ripped its skin off

Thanks for the pic Kathy. I'm glad you are here. I'm going to see if I can find the post of the duck that had the skin on its neck ripped off. But that's all I have that would be helpful.

Pictures and treatment used are always helpful... Please findd hem if you can.

I recently had two ducklings attacked by a drake, both had all the skin remove from around their necks. Now I wish I had taken pictures. Treatment was as I stated earlier... removed feathers 1/2" away from skin edges, cleaned wound with clorhexadine solution, applied newsprint. Kept inside away from flies and dirt until healed. Also kept a generous amount of neopsporin on them.

What about sea salt water? To rinse? And pain wise... ?
I think regular soap and water is fine... maybe boil it first if it's well water. I used well water straight from the tap on mine and they healed up fine. Pain wise, I wouldn't use anything but Meloxicam, but that's only because I have it and I know what the dose is. Some people use aspirin, but I don't know what the dose should be.
