duckling got leg stuck in weeds ripped its skin off

Skin can heal and as long as there is no nerve damage or something worse it think he will do okay. Your biggest threat is infection. It's going to need to be kept clean. I'm not sure if starting antibiotics now would be a good idea or not.
what antibiotics would i give?

Oh bless your heart, so glad you found this site! Here's what we use its called vetericyn, it's the hydrogel spray. Wound & infection treatment. It's used to treat or prevent hot spots, rain rot, rashes, post-surgical sites, burns, ringworm, skin infections, thrush, e coli, strep, and staph (MRSA)
I know it's late Saturday night, been working on catching up.. Is there any redness around the area? And did you trim back some of the feathers? tried to read as quick as I could but how old is the duckling? everyone is giving you great advice I hope that it all turns out okay. keep us posted..

I'm kind of on the fence about antibiotics and this type of wound, but that because I don't know much about what type of antibiotics would be best.

the best can antibiotics is Collodial silver, there is a lotion that you need a prescription from a doctor. But you can go to local sprouts or Whole Foods and they will have collodial silver. Its a liquid you just spray it on the skin, or in your mouth. it does not build immunity to the bacteria. You can also use honey.
Does the duckling have a fever from the injury, can you post more photos up of the injury? Is there any pus? Keep it wrapped and clean. I would keep the duckling all by itself.

i just happened today at 7pm there is no puss yet, he is hott.
he stopped squawking perhaps he went to sleep. it's been cleaned, he is in the our house in a tote, i will up date in the morning

Sorry I came on to this thread so late but as you can see you have made contact with some of the best and most dedicated duck lovers you could hope to find. At this point, and trying to consolidate what everyone has been saying, you need to clean the wound and keep it clean. Mild soap and water will work fine for that and a really good rinse afterwards. Try to come in contact with the wound as little as possible. Usa an antibiotic cream or lotion like Neosporin and use a lot of it. I would stay away from analgesics like advil or tylenol unless absolutely necessary but that is just me and simply because I would not know how to dose the duck. Keep her isolated but so that she does not feel completely alone put a mirror (unbreakable and without sharp edges) in with her so that she can see "another duck".

As for getting the other ducks out of the pond. Have you ever herded them? If not this will be a good time to learn and teach them. Start with two sticks about twice the length of your arms. One in each hand. Hold them out to your sides (this will give you the appearance of being huge to the ducks), calmly walk toward them using the sticks to guide and turn them. They will seem to panic at first but they will move in the direction you are directing them. This may involve you wading through the pond so I hope it is not too deep or too large.

I would isolate them from the pond at least for a time. Is there some way you can clean the weeds and growth out of the pond? If so I would do that first thing tomorrow.

Hopefully your duck will begin to improve right away. It will take a little time for her to fully heal but if you keep it clean and don't let her get in to any messes she should be o.k. Let us know how things are progressing and PLEASE do not hesitate to continue to ask questions and give us updates.

the pond is an acer, it's over 6ft deep..not sure how deep it really is we just got the house in 2013. i thought the duck would eat the weeds and bugs. i got the big ducks july 4th, and left them in the coop for 2 weeks, then i have not been able to get them back in, they go in to eat at 10:30ish as long as i am out of eyesight. the baby duck i got july 8th and they normally are in the coop, but today the big duck wanted in and popped the eyehook, letting the 4 babies out for the first time. i called vets and wildlife places being it a domestic duck wildlife will not help and there are no vets in my area that deal with ducks. i could not get the other babies today they are sticking with the adults in the center.
