I know ducks will eat just about everything that grows in a pond, but I was wondering if they eat bulrushs/cat-tails?
Anyone know if geese eat them?
I know the full grown cat-tails will be too coarse but maybe in the young tender stage?
I REALLY do not want to use herbacide on them, but they are too thick and the ducks only have about a 10x10 section of open water in a 1/2 acre pond. Anyone else have any tips on removal and control. My poor duckies want to use their pond.

About the best you can hope for is that ducks and geese will slow down the spread of cat-tails they will not clean them out of a pond where they are established.
You might consult the co-op extension service in your state, there usually is a office at every county seat. Ask about safe chemicals and/or mechanical methods to clear out your pond.

Why did I not think of the extension office?
