I am thinking about getting ducks and keeping them in the same free range area as my chooks,at night i was going to put them in a different area, is this necessary?

Is it ok to keep male ducks in the same area as my chooks or should i just keep female ducks?

If I put a paddling pool in for the ducks will the chooks go in it and if they will, will it hurt them?

Will the ducks try and attack my dogs or will they not be that bothered?

Will the ducks attack the chooks or vice versa?

Thanks, I would really appreciate it if you could help me out.
Thanks again, Chooklover.

There is alot of discussion on here about this subject.
Here are a couple current ones:

Bottom line: there isn't a consensus on the matter. And it will depend on your particular birds. People say that drakes may try to mate with your chickens, which can be dangerous. Without drakes I doubt you'd have any problems.

As for ducks attacking your dogs... what kind of dogs? A drake might get a little aggressive - but he's a duck. How much damage can he do to a dog? Generally dogs prey on birds, not vice-versa. Though I might pay to see a video of a quacker chasing a dog around...
