I was just wondering if they can learn to use it. They are 5 1/2 months old now and are in a run with 20 chickens. Their water is out in the run, but they are always getting it muddy. I am considering getting the nipple waterer. They will have their pool so they will be able to completely submerge their bills, and I am planning to rig something up in the winter when the pond freezes.

Sure they can. Mine figured out a rabbit water bottle in about 10 seconds flat. I just held the ball bearing in and let the water pour out and that was it. Plus, the water nipples are shiny and they love to pick at shiny stuff.
