    Quote:1)yes
2)yes, but its best that ducks have other ducks to be friends with
    3) Most can fly a little, some can fly a lot.
    4)YES
    5) males are quiet, females are louder- they are (IMHO) less loud then a yappy dog.
    6) not really, unless they can't fly.
    7) unless there is a fence, they are not good at reading surveys. [IMG]
    8) -depends on the type of duck and if it can fly or not
    9) compared to what? The eat a lot as ducklings so they can grow...
    10) they -can- like a rabbit hutch? I've seen this with call ducks before. (not sure if they liked it or if it worked forever or not)

    1:Yes you can.
2:Yes, but it gets very connected to it's owner so I would suggest getting a couple or a trio.
3:The only duck that cannot fly is a runner, other domesticated ducks are less flyers or more lousy flyers I guess you could say. mallards and Muscovies are great flyers.
4:Oh my gosh yes!! they are a hundred times messier than chickens.
5: most ducks are their're are a few breeds that are more quite.
6:It depends on the duck. If they get frightened they might take off. or if their is a nearby pond/lake they may leave.
7:If it's possible for them to get over there, again depends on the duck. the more active foragers are the more likely they will.
    8:Yup
9:depends on the breed, If it's a forager then less food they will eat.
10:Yes but I wouldn't do that for them, It would be better for them to be on the ground.
Oh one more thing they will be much happier if they have at least a small pool.
    Hope I helped! Good luck!

You should post this in the duck forum, you will get a lot more answers.

-I've hand raised alot of my ducks by themselves, but it depends if you have the time to keep it company without another play mate, but they turn out great pets if you do
-My muscovies fly, but have never ever left my property
-I've seen pens off the ground, but with suitable meshed bottom so they can still walk on it fine without much concentration, depending on your breed, some ducks will perch up in high places/with chickens, they are the flying ones though
-you can clip your ducks wings (or one wing) if you don't want it to fly
-My ducks used to wander across to my dam, but they'd always come back and sleep in their coop or when they got bored of swimming

What breed of duck are you getting? It'll help answering questions to that breed [IMG]

    1. Yes, of course!
    2. Yes, but it should be avoided if possible. Ducks are very social and need other ducks to thrive; that's why I got six haha. The most I could, so I did.
    3. Yes! It depends what kind; some prefer not to fly. For example, mallards can and will fly and runners won't. That's why I have mine in an enclosure with a top like most people if they have flying ducks and also to keep predators out like hawks and the like.
    4. YES. So much more than chickens. They poop wherever and whenever, they're very sloppy eaters, and are smelly at times.
    5. Yes, of course! Ducks are constantly chatting away especially when they're scared or nervous. Call ducks in particular are known to be very loud.
    6. Some, but not all.
    7. If given the chance they might.
    8. Yes but ducks should always be given a place to sit in the shade/a shelter along with a pond. They cannot be given access to open water such as a lake until they grow their feathers.
    9. Well, I suppose it depends. My ducks eat when they're hungry and thats all. They do enjoy grass though.
    10. I suppose but they would very much enjoy being able to dig for bugs and eat grass.

Hope I helped! You can message me too if you have any questions! [IMG]
