Ducks eye injury

So I let my ducklings in with the chickens today and while they were doing good for a while, one of the chickens pecked at one of the ducklings eye. It dosent look to serious to me its just a little red and the duck wants to keep it closed. Does this sound serious to anybody or should I just let it heal on its own?

I'd consider a peck injury to the eye serious and treat it with an ophthalmic preparation like Vetericyn Plus Antimicrobial Ophthalmic Gel or Terramycin Opthalmic Ointment. Terramycin is an antibiotic, so I prefer to try the Vetericyn first to see if it helps before getting out the Terramycin. Eye injuries can be very painful, so an ophthalmic gel or ointment may help soothe it, too.

I hope your duckling's eye gets better soon. If not, a visit to an avian vet would be advisable.
