My call ducks going to lockdown tonight. I just decided I may try egg carton method but have questions.
Do you have to use paper or can you use styrofoam cartons?
Also I have read big side up, correct?
And do you cut holes in each spot for air flow? Any help much appreciated. Thanks

When I do carton hatching, I use the paper cartons, just because that's what I have handy. I don't see why you couldn't do it with the styrofoam ones as well. I don't think it would make any difference. I cut out the bottom of each cup, so the eggs can get humidity all up round them. Cutting out a circle in the bottom of each cup is fine. If I'm incubating small eggs, I also cut down the height of the carton too, so that at least 1/3 of the egg is sticking up over the top. That's so they don't have trouble zipping round the shell. Hope that helps you some...

Here are photos of how I set up my egg cartons.

Two fully trimmed and fully loaded cartons.

You trim them to allow air flow around the eggs still. Good luck.
