Ducks legs shakey when she walks and pigeon toed!

My 8 wk old KC has been walking pigeon toed this week and her legs shake when she takes a step like she's weak... The bend in both her legs are a lot more knotty than my Drakes. They're not hot like I've seen to check for and there are no avian vets anywhere near me! Had anyone had this problem before or have any thoughts on what I can do?

I would add a Niacin supplement to her diet, it won't hurt. You have a couple of ways to do this, vitamins from the pharmacy, Brewer's yeast, or mixing into her drinking water. Some feed formulas contain more Niacin than others. Decide which works for you and then you should see results quite soon, in one week or less.

I agree with HollyDuckFarmer, and you want the plain niacin capsules, not no-flush or timed release. Empty the capsules into the drinking water. Keep that up for a couple of months.

Not all ducklings are this way, but a number of them seem to have high niacin needs.

100 to 150 mg niacin per gallon of drinking water, per Storey's Guide to Raising Ducks.

I went and got some Brewers Yeast yesterday and have been putting it in ther food but will it hurt my Duke since they eat from same bowl?

I don't think so, because B vitamins are water soluble. Also, Duke may actually benefit from a boost, too.
