My flock will be 21 months old in a few days and I just realized something this morning.
My Maggie, a little buff hen that got her name because she is as fiesty as a dear friend of mine named Maggie, is a BANTAM.

How did I miss this? No wonder she's so dominant. I would be too if I were a litte hen in a flock full of LF monsters. [IMG]

Quote:The new coop mates sounds like a good idea for yours, but the thing is my Maggie is not picked on. She kicks butt on anyone that tries to mess with her. [IMG]

yeah, my silkies totally hold their own with all the LF. there are only 2 of them and 20 LF and i hardly ever see anyone picking on them. Hansel gets it more than Gretel, but still it's almost nothing. i secretly think Gretel is at the top of the pecking order. she's a bossy little lady!

Well I've always known she was small, but I figured she would catch up eventually.
She's absolutely perfect in her markings, body shape, etc.
But this morning when they were all lined up eating scratch it hit me. Perfect hen, but much smaller? Must be a bantam. [IMG]

Actually she lays pretty good size eggs. She's playing Keep up with Jonses. She just screams a little louder when my 13 lb. roo climbs aboard. [IMG]
