We just brought home some healthy chicks from Southern States and they were being fed Southern States All-Grain chick feed. Our older flock of hens have always been fed Dumor layer feed from Tractor Supply. Dumor has chick feed, then at 12 weeks switch to a "finisher", then on to the layer formula. All-Grain chick feed til 16 weeks then on to layer. Anybody have thoughts on which brand is better? I notice that the All-Grain has Omega 3 and Marigold in the ingredients.

I'm not familiar with the brand names, but it's my understanding you can feed your entire flock the chick feed or finisher feed and just supply grit on the side for the laying hens to eat as they want.

Here's a link to the Feeding & Watering forum, you can find out more there:

    Best of luck to you!
