Dust baths for baby chics?

    My 2 week old EEs are trying to take a dust bath in their bedding, I use pine shavings. Should I put something in their brooder that they can take a dust bath in ?

    Yes, I just put dirt in a bin and stick it in with them and they love it! They kick up a lot of dirt in the air though!

    Ok thank you. We have no dirt around here right now, everything is mud!

    I just gave my chicks a dishpan with potting soil from last years flowers.

    I read somewhere that wood ash is also great for keeping mites away. That is all I have ever given mine and it works great. Even for the babies

    Thats what I heard also, about the wood ash, just wasn't sure if it was safe for babies. Thanks

    Potting soil ,I have some of that. I'll be adding it today !
