I made a sand filled tire in the run for dust bathing. It is under a tarped area but still gets wet. Yuck, and in winter it freezes. I want to put a litter box of sand inside the coop especially now that it is winter. The problem I have had with sand is that it is wet when you buy it and takes ages to dry out. I get the sand at Lowes or Home Depot. How can I get dry sand?

When I've bought bags of sand from HD it's inside and dry.
Maybe put the litter box of sand inside your house for a few days, keep stirring it until it dries out?

I buy from inside. It’s damp and takes days to dry out. I’ve done it. Guess I’ll do it again.

I bake soil i buy for my reptiles and indoor birds. The birds use it to dust bathe and its for certain reptile enclosures.
I do it to limit the chance of bringing home any type of mites that are in the soil.
I use an oven safe dish and bake at 300° for like 20 minutes.
Yes, it stinks a bit but it works and the soil comes out dry and crumbly.
Some people bake beach sand to sterilize it.
I'm pretty sure the oven will dry it out for you.
